【Notion】It's Notion, not Evernote series 【Create a book review gallery】
What can you make?
- You can see the finished image of this article from the link below. gonjittidemo
In a nutshell
- Create a database of book reviews in gallery view.
- Create a book review template in Notion.
- For the content, if it's a Kindle book, copy and paste it into the summary section (see past articles), and if it's a physical book, write it in markdown format.
Create a database in Notion in gallery view
From the left drawer menu, press "Add a Page" and select Gallery from Databases.
You can add or change the view later, so don't worry if you want to add a List instead of a Gallery.
A page will be created with about 3 example pages, so let's change the title and cover image (Add a Cover).
The cover image will be randomly selected, so let's choose a book from Unsplash and make it look nice! You can also upload your own favorite image.
Done! It looks great. Let's start accumulating knowledge.
Create a book review template in Notion
Next, let's set up a template. If you press the ↓-like mark on the right of New, New Template should appear.
A modal page will appear, so you can create a template as you like. It seems like it could also be used for a meeting minutes template. (In fact, I use it.)
Let's specify your favorite Property (setting value).
Below is my finished diagram. If you include the URL, PDF, and Author, it will be fine for the most part. If you take a picture of the book's title cover for Add an Image, it will look great in the gallery.
This way, you can create a book summary from the template by pressing the right side of new from now on.
Now, let's write a summary of the book from the template.
From now on, let's write a summary using the template as you like.
In the case of Kindle, you can apply the copy-paste technique using Kindle highlights that I introduced in the article below (please use it for personal use only).
In the case of a physical book, you will have to type and create a summary. You can write it in markdown format, so you should be able to use it without any problems once you get used to it.

A recommended design book. It's packed with design tips that you can use forever. I use it often myself.
