In a nutshell
- I want to effectively summarize the highlights of the books I read on Kindle in Evernote, Notion, or a notepad.
- Kindle highlights are all gathered at https://read.amazon.co.jp/kp/notebook
- Note: Kindle has a limit on the length of quotes, and if they are too long, they will be omitted. You can avoid this by making your highlights shorter and changing the color.
I want to effectively summarize the highlights of the books I read on Kindle in Evernote, Notion, or a notepad.
Until recently, after reading a book on Kindle, I would review my highlights from the Kindle app and transcribe them to create a summary of the content myself, but I was troubled by how long it took (usually 2 hours, and sometimes as long as 4 hours).
So, in order to make the process more efficient, I looked into whether I could create a summary by copying and pasting the highlights, and I discovered a feature that was only available in the US (amazon.com) at the time: the ability to view a list of highlights from the web. Since it was a web page, I could copy and paste the highlights, and this solved the problem.

It seems that this feature is now available in Japan as well, but it's not widely known, so I'd like to introduce it to those who have the same problem.
Viewing your Kindle highlights on the web
All of your Kindle highlights are gathered at https://read.amazon.co.jp/kp/notebook.
You can easily create a book summary by copying and pasting these highlight sentences. In the case of Evernote, it seems that you can get the full text with the Web Clipper, but for transcribing to Notion or other notepad apps, you need to select the range with the mouse and paste it. gonjitti uses a combination of Evernote and Notion to transcribe in an instant.
Note: Kindle has a limit on the length of quotes, and if they are too long, they will be omitted. You can avoid this by making your highlights shorter and changing the color.
However, due to Kindle's restrictions, highlights that are too long will be omitted and you will see a "Continue on Kindle" message.
To avoid this problem, I recommend that you set your highlights to be shorter and change the color frequently, as shown below.

A recommended design book. It's packed with design tips that you can use forever. I use it often myself.
